MCPHERSON, KAN – McPherson County Attorney Gregory Benefiel announced that the deputy who fired the shot that killed 24 year old William Holmes will not face charges.  Benefiel said that the officer believed that another deputy was in life threatening danger and had no other choice.

The suspect, Holmes, was killed after going for an officer’s gun following an unsuccessful attempt by police to subdue him with non lethal weapons including taser and bean bag rounds.
