The Buffalo Police Department recently began discussing whether or not tasers would be beneficial for them to carry. This comes after an unarmed man recently died after an interaction with local police.

It has been noted that more than 15,000 law enforcement agencies use tasers. Up until this point, Buffalo has not been one of them.

The Buffalo News reported, “In probing the death of Jose Hernandez-Rossy by a Buffalo police officer last year, investigators with the state Attorney General’s Office also looked for ways the Police Department could prevent future fatal encounters. Investigators included recommendations in its report on the death investigation released Thursday. Among them: The Buffalo Police Department should consider equipping its officers with Tasers”.
