The United States is in talks with Mexico on whether U.S. air marshals are permitted to bring tasers on cross-border flights.

National Security Commissioner, Renato Sales said, “They would only be on commercial (U.S.) flights on (U.S.) airlines, not on Mexican airlines…but it’s still not finalized…we’re still in talks” in an interview with Televisa broadcast network.

Some speculate the timing of the talk due to the NAFTA negotiations already in place.
