The NYPD began distributing iPhone 7s to its officers just before Christmas. The force was originally using Windows phones as it was compatible with a surveillance program they were using. But after support for their mobile program ended, the phones simply weren’t as useful as they once were.

The new iPhones will help police with filling out summons, domestic violence cases and decrease their overall response time.

Manhattan, The Bronx and Staten Island have already received their upgrades with Brooklyn and Queens to follow.
