NBC News reports that the White House has been informed of the development of a cruise missile designed to knock out North Korean rocket launches before anyone is hurt.

The Boeing AGM-86B air-launched cruise missile uses a payload known as the Counter-electronics High-power Microwave Advanced Missile Project (CHAMP), which is launched from planes and uses microwave pulses to disable electronics.

Retired US Air Force general, David Deptula, told NBC’s “Nightly News” that the AGM-86B could “quite possibly” stop a North Korean missile launch before it leaves the launchpad because, “Command and control centers are filled with electronic infrastructure, which is highly vulnerable to high-powered microwaves.”
