Police in Australia released two new bomb detecting robots. The robots are two different sizes, one large and one medium, and cost roughly $1.7 million units.

Australian news reported, “The new robots, which replace 15-year-old devices, have a greater battery life and will increase safety by allowing police to operate them from further away. The larger device, Teodor, has already been put to work checking a suspicious package on Russell St in the CBD last week. The smaller robot would be used to check public transport and is slim enough to navigate the aisles of planes.”

A spokeswoman for Victoria Police, Amelia Penhall, stated, “One of the robots is capable of deploying a wide range of tools including drills, grinders and x-ray equipment. Ms Penhall also said the smaller robot is designed to deal with explosives on public transport.”
