Sacramento PD Trains Officers For Suspects With Condition Known as “Excited Delirium”
Uncategorized December 21, 2017, Comments Off 0SACRAMENTO, CA – The Sacramento Police Department addressed “excited delirium”, the agitated state in which an adrenaline filled suspect can put themselves and police in danger as non lethal tools, such as taser, fail to work. The department is acknowledging the issue and pushing for better training to handle suspects who become violent and possess adrenaline induced strength when fleeing officers. This can result in an overuse of force as officers grapple with a lack of non lethal weapons that do not rely on pain compliance.
