The University of Chicago released a study last month stating that the use of Tasers do not reduce the likelihood a police officer will not use a lethal weapon.

The study did confirm, however, the Taser does reduce the rate of police injury. This study began about 7 years ago, shortly after the Chicago Police Department issued Tasers to officers.

CNBC reported, “University of Chicago Professor Jeffrey Grogger found in the study that “police injuries fell, but neither injury rates nor the number of injuries to civilians were affected.”
